Solway Lass, the Whitsunday's Magnificent 127ft Traditional Tall Ship is the perfect vessel to use for a memorable wedding. The ship was 100 years old in April 2002 and has all the old world charm that goes with a sailing vessel from yesteryear. Solway Lass remains in excellent condition after major restoration works in 1983, 1999, 2002 and 2006. During the 1980s and 90s on Sydney Harbour, approximately 1000 weddings were conducted on Solway Lass.
Solway Lass's rigging, lines and gleaming brass provides the perfect props to take many unique wedding photos.
Available for Charter on Saturdays between 8am and 4.30pm. We recommend 60 to 75 guests on-board, eventhough we can carry more it becomes a little too cosy and makes catering etc difficult.
SUGGESTED TIMINGS & SCHEDULE FOR SOLWAY LASS
Schedule can be adjusted to suit your requirements
7.45am - Provision Vessel with stores, decorate etc. A cabin is available for the Bride
8.45am - Guests board - Departure is from Abel Point Marina in Airlie Beach
9.00am - Bride comes up stair way onto deck, or makes way along Marina to Boat
9.15am - Depart Marina and motor to a suitable anchorage.
12pm - Ceremony on board Solway Lass, sign registry and toasts
1pm - Lunch (with large numbers we suggest finger food and platters)
2pm - Depart anchorage and set sails for a 2 hour sail
4.15pm - Arrive at Abel Point Marina 4.30pm - Depart guests. Our courtesy bus can organise transfers to local accommodation, restaurant or function venue
WEDDINGS ABOARD WHITSUNDAY MAGIC
Bring a piece of the Mediterranean to your special day, with a wedding aboard Whitsunday Magic. Whitsunday Magic is a 3 mast Schooner built in the Mediterranean. Today, cruising the Whitsunday Islands in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
Whitsunday Magic provides the perfect Wedding Platform, and with both a formal dining room and a large back deck dining area, meals can be provided for up to 60 guests seated.
For larger wedding parties, we can carry up to 100 guests, and food can be organised via platter arrangements and drink tray service.
Whitsunday Magic is available for afternoon and evening charters on Thursday’s between 2pm – 10pm.
Sail from Airlie Beach mid afternoon and sail into the sunset... as the sunsets complete the ceremony before dinner and drinks. Return to Airlie Beach at 10am and head into town to continue the party or transfers to local accommodation!
Prices for up to 100 guests, cruising aboard Whitsunday Magic from $50 per person, including 8 crew to sail and manage the boat and bar operations.This price does not include drinks, food, entertainment or the celebrant.
Whitsunday Magic is also available for one night charters each Thursday, from 2pm until 1pm Friday.
For a one night charter we can accommodate up to 32 guests, and have 8 crew to sail and manage the boat and bar operations.
Another popular option is a 3 night Whitsunday Magic cruise from Friday until Monday, so the lucky couple plus up to 36 family and friends can experience the wedding and celebrate for a few days as one group.
So on top of a wonderful Whitsunday Wedding, also experience beautiful Whitsunday locations, such as Whitehaven Beach, and snorkel on pristine coral reefs.... family and friends will talk about it for years!
